A small mistake or negligence is making people’s years of hard work useless. A woman from Gurugram lost her hard-earned Rs 10 lakh through the social media app Telegram. If you also use Telegram, then run it carefully because a new type of fraud is going on here. Know about this.

What is the matter?

Shanu Priya Varshney, a resident of Gurugram’s Khandsa Road area, told in the police report that she received a message on WhatsApp on February 1, promising a good return on investment. Because there was talk of more return in less money, so the woman liked this offer and she kept following the further process. The woman was then asked to join a Telegram group where she was initially asked to watch and like the video first. When the woman watched some videos, instead she was given some money as commission from the person in front.

The next day, Rs 8,000 was taken from the woman in the name of VIP membership. Shanu Priya told that her account was created on a website where she was asked to invest. On February 4, the woman again deposited more money in her account in the name of Super VIP membership. Overall, the woman deposited Rs 10 lakh 75 thousand on this portal.

When Shanu Priya asked the person for money refund or profit, the fraudster asked the woman to deposit Rs 4 lakh more. On hearing this, Shanu Priya Varshney was convinced that she had been a victim of fraud and immediately lodged a complaint with the police. The police have registered a case against an unknown person under sections 419 and 420 of the IPC. Head constable Naveen Kumar told that the woman’s account has been frozen so that no further damage is done.
